Health Care Alert

Health Care AlertHi, we're Russell Garcia and Katie Tate. We're in our twenties and we are running Colorado Health Care Alert to let the public, the media, and our decision makers know that while there may be a minority of young adults who reject health coverage, the vast majority of young people want health care and want to join in the statewide conversation. If you are between the ages of 18 and 34, we really need your voice. Please add your opinions or your own story about the cost and quality of health care in our campaign album below. Include your photo!

Markus

Medical Debt: $0

I don't have health insurance right now because I can't afford the premiums that most companies charge. I would like to see more affordable premiums for young adults.

Medical Debt: $900

I had torn my ACL a while back and I found a doctor that would do the surgery for free. I had to pay a $50 copay for the surgery but the anesthesiologist charged me $900 for the work. I don't have health insurance right now and I can't afford to pay it. I started working for a childcare company but I can't go in to work until I am physically able to restrain a child. The job I am at now does not offer health insurance to me so I just can't afford to go in to the doctor for regular stuff.

Matt
Colorado Springs
Medical Debt: $7000

My friend has very high medical bills for some broken bones and her health insurance is way too crummy to pay for most of the work that she needs, so she has to pay a lot of it out of pocket.
